WELCOME TO GERALD BLOOMER EQUESTRIAN

Coaching for Performance.

About

Growing up at his family’s Brennanstown Riding School in Co. Wicklow, Gerald Bloomer has been riding and competing since childhood.

As a Young Rider he was fortunate to train as a pupil of Ireland’s Niall Quirke and Anna Merveldt, and later, Ingrid Klimke in Germany and Carl Hester in Great Britain. These mentors ignited his passion for Dressage, and for the coaching and development of riders in both Dressage and Eventing.

He has competed in Dressage up to Intermediare 1 level, representing Ireland at Junior and Young Rider European Championships, alongside team-mate Judy Reynolds, and was the Individual Gold Medallist in Dressage at the 2005 World University Equestrian Championships in Tokyo as well as taking Combined Team Bronze with team-mates Andrew Bourns and Lee Murphy.

Currently competing in Eventing up to CCI*** level, Gerald is a Horse Sport Ireland Level 3 coach in Eventing and Dressage and is the Team Ireland Dressage coach to the Junior Eventing Team.

As Dressage and Showjumping Team Coach to the Irish Student Riding Team at the 2016 World University Equestrian Championships at Flyinge, Sweden, Gerald was instrumental in helping to secure Team Silver and Individual Silver in dressage (Ian Cassells) and Individual Silver Combined (Kelly Hutchinson).

Gerald enjoys working with riders across all levels and provides clinics from Pony Club to International High Performance level.

Coaching Philosophy

Gerald believes in educating riders and takes pride in producing horse and rider combinations for a successful and sustainable future in their sport.

Through the provision of a systematic and tailor-made training programme, based on the German classical training model, Gerald’s coaching method allows each horse and rider combination to achieve maximum results, whether competing in Dressage or Eventing.

Gerald also works with Showjumping riders, providing a system of flatwork and pole work training to improve the suppleness, gymnastic, and athletic ability of showjumpers for the competition arena.
